One of my favorite fall outings is to take a horse drawn carriage out to the pumpkin patch. Children and adults alike are delighted with this adventure and the bonus is you get to take home a pumpkin you selected just for your family.
I recently visited Thistledown Farm located in Eugene, Oregon. Their pumpkin patch is enormous and they have a stable full of horses and well orchestrated carriage procession. They also offer an abundance of fresh vegetables right from their farm. Although they close for the season on November 2, visit their website and tag them or find a similar farm in your community for an excursion during the next growing season.
I found my perfect pumpkin at Stout Oak Farm located in Exeter, NH. Watch for my blog about roasted pumpkin and pumpkin seeds.
